Since our founding in 2013, One From The Sea has undergone a number of massive overhauls including changing our name, logo, to even how we planned on meeting our environmental goals. We had been looking for ways to create a conversation about ocean conservation and felt really horrible that all of our jewelry was brand new, meaning we bought new materials to create them, instead of being resourceful. Fast forward a few years, and now our jewelry has expanded into necklaces, bracelets, earrings, as well as some accessories too. All pieces in our collection utilize debris collected from local waterways and are inspired by problems the oceans are currently facing.
While we are on that subject, we should have a quick conversation about the word “Sea” in our name. Science has taught us that all water is connected through the water cycle, which means, that your backyard stream, your local watersheds, and of course the larger bodies of water all are connected to the ocean in some fashion.
One From The Sea has a goal to keep plastic and other harmful pollutants out of our waterways. We are happy to say, that we are starting in the largest source of viable freshwater, the Great Lakes. We are based in Southeast Michigan and are determined to see our Great Lakes, clean, healthy and a thriving example of what a community can do when we are empowered to make a change. We do support ocean clean up projects, but we still believe in taking care of our surrounding communities. On Facebook
